Experiences

The team at Experiences knows no limits when it comes to creating innovative activities. In fact it was the perpetual need for temporary 'luxury' accommodation that Chiefs Luxury Tented Camp was created. However your experience may not require luxury mobile accommodation and as such the team can provide any activity based requirements that you may have from anywhere.

Each experience is individually tailored, leaving no detail aside, and can be created literally anywhere in Africa. From 10 to 1000 participants and beyond. Activities could include modules as varied as whale shark tagging, conservation safaris, 'soft' adventures etc to some more challenging modules and lasting anything from three hours to three days.

We loosely define an experience as a set of activities, which inspires the mind, body and soul.

How it works

Guests arrive at the welcome station, and here, tea, coffee and juices are served and guests have the chance to go to the loo (about 10 portaloos – naturally group size dependant). These are always immaculate as there are two ladies stationed there permanently and they are cleaned between each person.

Once the guests have arrived at the welcome station, a brief introduction is made and the various guides for the activities are introduced.

Mountain Bike Riding: either beginners or advanced (approximately 2 hours). Bird Island Paddle: Guests paddle to bird island to see an impressive varirty of birds nesting (approximately 2 hours). Fly Fishing Instruction: Great for beginners where they receive instruction on fly fishing and try their hand at fishing. Mobile Spa: In this case, the spa had 10 stations whereby guests could have a neck and shoulder massage, manicure and pedicure. Photography workshop: This is a whole day affair, where guests receive instruction on the principals of wildlife photography with the aid of a projector and screen. They then go on to do their practical in the bush before returning to review their pictures. Cameras are supplied.

Each group then follows their respective guide / instructor for a further briefing before beginning their first rotation. Now depending on arrival and departure times, it is possible to get up to 3 or 4 activities in during the day. All guests stop for lunch under tents, which is a pretty impressive affair.

For this particular group there were approx 800 guests in groups of about 120 per day that come through on a back to back basis for a period of about 10 days.

An ops tent is set up with a medic and help table and an open bar was also set up for soft drinks only.

Where it is

This particular set up was in Vaalkop Nature Reserve which is a North West Parks and Tourism Park and is situated approximately 150 km from Fourways, Johannesburg. To give you an idea, Ivory Tree Game Lodge in the Pilanesberg is 168 km from Fourways, so Vaalkop is slightly shorter. African Experiences can be set up anywhere, based on the groups requirements and needs and all quotes are tailor-made to suit your requirements. There is no certainly no limitation on what can be done in this diverse country and beyond.
